David Murray completed his Fellowship in General Surgery in New South Wales, and then went on to train in Upper Gastrointestinal and Weight Loss surgery in Sydney and Newcastle under the ANZGOSA program. He is the only surgeon in Tasmania with this subspecialty training and qualification.
He specialises in the management of Oesophago-gastric disease, and in the treatment of oesophageal and stomach cancer, hiatus hernia, GORD, motility disorders, gallbladder and hernia surgery, as well a wide range of general surgical issues.
Mr Murray also has extensive experience in Weight Loss and Obesity Surgery, offering laparoscopic (keyhole) bariatric surgery, as well as revisional surgery such as gastric band removal and conversions to other surgery options.
Mr Murray is also actively involved in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and is the current Chair of the Indigenous Health Committee, and sits on several other committees with the College.
He is a passionate advocate for his patients, and strives to maintain up-to-date evidence-based practice to achieve optimal outcomes.
